Three Texarkana Teens Arrested Overnight For Criminal Trespassing and Mischief
Earlier this week I wrote a story about the Texarkana curfew for kids and teens that is in effect in the summer. Here is a perfect example of why there is a curfew. Texarkana Texas police arrested three teenage boys overnight and they were charged with Criminal Trespassing and Criminal Mischief.
At 3:15 AM on Friday, July 22 police got a call that someone was in the abandoned McCartney Hotel in downtown Texarkana. The caller could tell that someone was in the building because he could see the light of a flashlight moving around and he heard the sound of things crashing down on the street below.
Turns out these teenage boys were allegedly up on the 8th floor of the building and were throwing chairs, rocks and other things out of a window. Police are reporting that several vehicles that were parked below had broken windows and dents from the fallen items.
The TTPD posted on their Facebook
About 3:15 this morning, a railroad worker in the nearby train yard called 911 and said that he could see someone with flashlights up in the hotel building. He also said that he could hear things crashing to the ground over the sound of the train engine. When he then walked closer to investigate what was going on himself, he saw three guys running west away from the building.
Police found the three boys, covered in dust, walking down the street about a block away from the hotel and were arrested. 17-year-old Titus Smith and two juveniles on 15-year-old and a 16-year-old have been charged with Criminal Trespass and Criminal Mischief which come with fines of over $750 and under $2,500. Smith was booked into the Bi-State Jail, and the other boys were taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
