Adult education students in Bowie and Cass counties will now have the opportunity to participate in an accelerated learning opportunity that will allow them to progress more quickly toward taking the High School Equivalency Test (GED, HiSet, TASC).

This accelerated learning opportunity will be offered locally on the campus of Texarkana College in the Texarkana ISD Adult Education & Literacy program center, located in Building 8, Physical Science Building at the corner of Tucker Street and Johnson Avenue.

Texarkana ISD Adult Education & Literacy program is already seeing promising results as more students are getting on board with moving forward with their GED®.  “We are seeing progress, growth and successful completion,” said Kimberly Bursey-Reece, Career Navigator.  “This new program option has been a ‘win-win’ for our students and for our program.”

The accelerated program helps qualified individuals progress quickly toward earning a GED® diploma by offering targeted instruction to address the student’s specific skill gaps.  These targeted instruction efforts include a combination of independent and direct instruction in academic content areas, technology and test-taking skills.

GED® Express Option capitalizes on learning opportunities and helps students really focus and hone in on building the specific skills they need in order to earn a GED® diploma as quickly as possible.  “We want students to be successful and will do what we can to help them move toward taking the next step, whether that is improved employment opportunities or further education – or both,” continued Bursey-Reece.

The next Express Options class will start on November 15.  Class times will be 8AM and 1PM.  Interested individuals may sign up at the Texarkana College location or call 903-794-2858.
