Watch Tucker Beathard’s New ‘Momma and Jesus’ Music Video
Tucker Beathard premiered the music video for his single "Momma and Jesus" on Monday (Jan. 23). Directed by Wes Edwards, it's full of raucous and hilarious misbehavior that involves ... well, guys just having (too much) fun.
The first shot of the "Momma and Jesus" music video shows "Don't try this at home" spray painted on the wall, and it's an indication of the shenanigans about to take place -- so crazy that even the hired stuntman walked off the set mid-shoot! In the clip, Beathard, his bandmates and longtime buddies wreak havoc around Nashville with a couple of inflatable dolls, playing paintball in racy women's lingerie, riding the pedal tavern on Broadway completely naked and goofing around on motorbikes and ramps.
"As one of five siblings, if you asked my mom who she most worried about getting into trouble, I’m going to guess it was probably me,” says Beathard in a press release. “I grew up as a huge fan of shows like [MTV's] Jackass and Ridiculousness, where they did crazy stunts like this, and so the video shoot was an excuse to have fun and do stupid stuff. When the stunt coordinator quit and walked off the set that afternoon, I remember the head of my label, Scott Borchetta, called and said, ‘I’m fine with you doing this, but please just don’t kill yourself.'
Country Stars With Their Moms
"It was pretty funny," Beathard adds. "They probably knew that I was going to do it anyway, but he was cool and just let me do my thing. It was awesome to just mess around with my best friends and make a unique music video. I can be reserved and introverted at times, but anyone who really knows me will not be shocked by it.”
"Momma and Jesus" is the second single from Beathard's Fight Like Hell EP. And though the singer's probably let down his momma (and Jesus) a time or two, the song acknowledges that he knows when it's quittin' time: “So I’m gonna shoot this last light out / Get a little lost before I get found / I’m gonna burn this last one down and then turn it around / Before momma and Jesus run out of reasons / For not giving up on me.”
Beathard will head out on on the road with Brantley Gilbert, on Gilbert's The Devil Don't Sleep Tour, beginning on Feb. 2.
