TxDOT Wants Your Input on $104 Billion In Transportation Upgrades

Where is it going and how is it going to get there? The State of Texas would like your input on that very topic as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) prepares a 10-year plan across the state to improve Texans transportation needs to the tune of $104 billion.

The draft of the 2025 Unified Transportation Program (UTP) outlines $104.2 billion in proposed spending, marking the second consecutive year the plan exceeds $100 billion.

The UTP plan aims to improve safety, ease congestion, and enhance connectivity across Texas. It covers a wide range of transportation modes, including roads, public transit, maritime, aviation, rail, freight, and even bicycle and pedestrian pathways. Every year, TxDOT collaborates with various partners to update the UTP and identify key projects.

"The UTP is our strategic blueprint for advancing projects statewide," said TxDOT Executive Director Marc Williams. "Working with our partners and communities ensures we prioritize safety, innovation, and stewardship while keeping Texas connected."

TxDOT invites the public to a virtual meeting today, July 2, at 2 PM to learn about the plan, and to a virtual hearing on Wednesday, July 31, at 2 PM. to provide feedback. You can join these sessions online or by phone through TxDOT.gov.

The public comment period starts Friday, July 5, and ends Monday, August 5, at 4 PM. For details on how to submit comments, visit the UTP Public Involvement webpage. Presentations from both the meeting and the hearing will be recorded and available later. An online comment form is also available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, and Mandarin.

Your feedback is crucial in shaping the plan. The UTP Fact Sheet, available in English and Spanish, offers an overview of the program. The Texas Transportation Commission will approve the final UTP in August and publish it on TxDOT.gov.
