LifeShare Blood Center in Texarkana is encouraging everyone to help save lives during its annual United We Give campaign, scheduled for July 1-3, 2026.

The three-day community blood drive aims to help replenish blood supplies during the summer months, when donations typically decline. According to LifeShare, blood donations often drop by nearly 20 percent during the summer as vacations, travel, and school breaks disrupt regular donor schedules.

To thank participants, eligible donors who give blood, platelets, or plasma during the campaign will receive a limited-edition Red, White, & YOU T-shirt and a $25 gift card.

Summertime Means The Need Goes Up

Despite seasonal declines in donations, the need for blood remains constant. Blood products are used daily for cancer treatments, surgeries, trauma care, chronic illnesses, and emergencies. Sumr

“Every blood donor shares a common purpose: helping someone they may never meet,” said Mandi Johnson, LifeShare's Director of Community Engagement. “That’s what United We Give is all about. It’s a reminder that our community is strongest when we show up for one another.”

Tunnel 2 Towers Steel Across America - Texarkana Stop - June 3, 2026

On the 25th anniversary year of 9/11, this steel beam from the Twin Towers in New York that fell on September 11, 2001, is a must-see. The ceremony was very well done and featured short speeches from both Texarkana Mayors and Fire Chiefs. I know many in attendance weren't even alive when the attack happened 25 years ago, but for those of us who remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when the planes struck the towers, it was an amazing thing to see and touch. If you have the chance to witness this, you should. Find out more at T2T.org.
