Fall Fun With Battle on the Border: A Concert for Kids’ Literacy
One thing I love about fall in Texarkana is that there's always something going on every weekend.
United Way of Greater Texarkana Battle on the Border
This Saturday, October 18, get ready for the United Way of Greater Texarkana's Battle on the Border, a fundraiser to benefit children's literacy. The money raised from this event goes toward Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.
Battle on the Border will be held at the Four States Fairgrounds Entertainment Center at 6 PM, featuring Heather Linn and The Deacons. Don't miss this exciting concert from one of Texarkana's favorite bands. Special guests will include Hailey Wright, as seen on NBC's The Voice last year.
General admission tickets are $18.35, and VIP tables are $522.75. Tickets are available online at the Four States Fair website.

What is Dolly Parton's Imagination Library?
It's a program designed to offer high-quality books as gifts to children up to age 5. Many of the books are mailed free to families of any income level. An official with the United Way of Greater Texarkana says it costs $30 to provide one child with a year's worth of books. Fundraising for the Battle of the Border helps ensure that local children in our community receive the necessary tools needed for early literacy skills and lifelong reading.
