This weekend is loaded with reasons to gather and raise a glass. Here are some ways to incorporate two of the biggest events in your celebration.

This weekend is loaded with iconic days. Today, for instance is "May the Fourth be with You" which celebrates Star Wars, with tomorrow holding the title of "Revenge of the 5th." If you feel like celebrating those days by watching a marathon of Star Wars films, then be my guest. I, on the other hand, will be focused on two other big events, Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby.

I'm sure these events have fallen on the same day before however, this year there seems to be a large emphasis on celebrating both. If you're looking to do both, I think there are some easy ways to make that happen. Let's take a look at a few.

1. Cinco de Derby Party

This is easy. Simply host a party and invite your friends to dress up the way they want. If they want to wear a giant fascinator, done. If they choose to throw on a giant sombrero, solid. Crank up some great Mexican music, turn on the derby on TV, and serve up mint juleps and margaritas.

2. Find a Spot that Does Both

Rather than staying in, head out to a great local bar and restaurant who will serve up the most delectable chips, queso, or guacamole, but has enough screens throughout to watch the derby at the same time. Sometimes just the bar at a Mexican restaurant will suffice.

3. Mix n Match

Feel free to wear your best Cinco de Mayo outfit, but spruce it up a bit with a decorative hat or fascinator. Or do the opposite and put on your favorite derby number, but top it off with a sombrero. Thanks to the Internet, you may even be able to find a fascinator with mini sombreros on it.

4. Costume Change

You can also just give each celebration is due diligence. The Kentucky Derby only last like two minutes. You could focus solely on each event, first the derby and then allow Cinco de Mayo to be your after party.

5. Don't Mix Liqours

For what it's worth, I would stick to one drink route. Bouncing back and forth between mint juleps and margaritas could prove problematic. Not sure whiskey and tequila like to share territory, if you know what I mean.

However you decide to celebrate, make sure you have a safe ride home lined up. Plan your ride before the party starts.
