Texarkana Roadwork: Your Guide to Navigating I-30 & More This Week
The growing pains continue in the Texarkana area as work on I-30 continues. We found out where road crews will be working this week in our area.
Bowie County Roadwork Details
Driving in Bowie and Cass Counties this week, you will need to be prepared for lane shifts, closures and construction zones as highway improvement projects continue.
In Bowie County, Westbound traffic on 1-30 remains split between FM 989 to the Arkansas state line in Texarkana. If you are driving in the left lane, you will need to stay on the interstate with no options to exit, while the right lane will allow access to local exits, but remember some of those ramps will remain closed.
There is more work on I-30 between FM 989 and FM 3419, where crews are extending the frontage roads. FM 2148 is closed under the I-30 bridge in that area.
Construction also continues along FM 989/Kings Highway from the I-30 north frontage road to Gibson Lane, with traffic shifted as construction work to widen the roadway. Exit 207 at Spur 594 is also closed to rework the ramp.
Drivers need to watch for lane closures in both directions on I-30 at US 82 as they do maintenance work on the bridge. Road widening projects continue on US 82 between US 259 and I-30 and on FM 989 from US 59 to US 67. Also, be aware that daytime lane closures are taking place along US 59 from FM 2148 to the Sulphur River.
Cass County Roadwork Details
Crews will be working on SH 155 between the Marion County line and SH 49, where you will find lane and shoulder closures. US 59 is being resurfaced from SH 77 to FM 2791, where lanes will be closed at night. Daytime closures will be in the area between FM 1966 and SH 77 to widen the road and add shoulders.
Good News About the Sulphur River Bridge
We do have good news! The bridge replacement on SH 8 has been completed and is now open for traffic.
Be Patient, Road Improvements in Texarkana and Surrounding Areas Will be Worth it!
All this construction and roadwork can be frustrating, but it will be worth it in the end. Just take a deep breath and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination and think about how wonderful this will all be when it's finished!
