Good Friday, Here are some stories making headlines today:

SWEPCO won a court battle in the Arkansas Supreme Court yesterday. The High Court ruled that the Hempstead County Hunting Club and the other environmental groups oppossed to the Coal Fired Plant being built in Hempstead County near Fulton, east of Texarkana, have not exhausted avenues to appeal the plant's approval before the state Public Service Commission.

Until all those avenues are exhausted the Court says it cannot consider arguments about whether the plant was properly permitted. Opponents do not want the plant in operation saying it will fowl environmentally sensitive areas, while Swepco argues the plant is safe and the power plant is needed and would bring jobs and revenue to the very poor area.

A Southwest Arkansas prosecutor says he has forwarded to a judge a request to file charges against a state lawmaker from Texarkana who was involved last weekedn in a fight with his estranged wife's friend.

Miller County Prosecutor Tommy Potter says he approved Cary Pessel's request for charges after Pessel filed an affidavit earlier this week against Arkansas State Senator Steve Harrelson. Pessel claims Harrelson attacked him  after Harrelson arrived at his  and his estranged wife's home and found Pessel there. Harrelson contends that Pessel attacked him.

The prosecutor says he forwarded the request to a judge, who will decide whether to issue a summons. Harrelson plans to contest the charges if they are filed against him.

The Twice as Nice 5K  Walk or Run is going to be held tommorrow (Saturday) May 28th at Spring Lake Park in Texarkana, Texas. The family benefit will hlep out Kristie Coe and her battle against breast cancer.

In sports;

It will be the Dallas Mavericks vs. the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals . That after the Heat beat Chicago last night to take the Eastern Conference Finals 4-1. Dallas beat Oklahoma City 4-1 in the Western Conference Finals.

Pleasant Grove beat Bonham last night to take Game 1 in their best of three regional semi-final. Game 2 is tonight in Bonham and game 3 if necessary will be tommorrow afternoon at Paris North Lamar. Good luck to the Hawks!!!
