The 17th annual Kansas City Southern (KCS) Holiday Express is scheduled for a stop in Ashdown, Ark., on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at approximately 4PM on Main St., near U.S. Highway 71.

The Holiday Express has been entertaining crowds of all ages since 2001 with its smiling tank car "Rudy" a flat car that carries Santa’s sleigh, reindeer, and miniature village. In addition, the lighted train will also feature a gingerbread box car, an elves' workshop, reindeer stable, and a little red caboose. Parents and their children will be able to board the train to visit with Santa Claus and his jolly elves, and tour three cars out of the six car train.

I loved seeing the kids' eyes light up and the hear the cheers when the train pulled into its destination. Ever since I was very young, I've always had a fascination for trains, because there's just something special and magical about them.

During each stop the KCS Charitable Fund made up of employees, vendors and friends purchase gift cards that are given to the Salvation Army to help provide warm clothing and other items for children in need within our community.

The cost to tour the train is free, so bundle up the kids and family and take the short 20 drive to Ashdown Wednesday, Dec. 6, for the KCS Holiday Express. Choo Choo baby!
