Love Gardening? Become a Master Gardener, Classes Begins January 30
Do you know someone who is a great gardener? Do they want to go to the next level? Here is their chance. The Bowie County Master Gardeners are excited to announce their 2025 Intern Training Class, starting on January 30.
What is a Master Gardener?
Master Gardeners are volunteers who love gardening and want to help others learn more about it. They get special training through the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office, which helps them share expert gardening tips with the community.
What Does it Take to Become a Master Gardener?
This year’s training includes 35 hours of online classes and 15 hours of hands-on work. New interns will need to complete an online volunteer orientation and pass a background check before starting.
In their first year, interns must finish 50 training hours and take an exam. They will also need to complete at least 50 volunteer hours with local AgriLife projects in Bowie County. To stay certified, Master Gardeners do at least 10 hours of continuing education and volunteer for at least 20 hours each year.
If you'd like to learn more about the program, join the Bowie County Master Gardeners for a “Meet and Greet” on Thursday, November 21, at 5:30 PM at Texarkana College at TexAmericas Center (15 James Carlow Drive, New Boston).
