National Picnic Day April 23 – Hot Spots for Picnics in Texarkana

Don't you just love Springtime? Longer days, warmer weather, a great time to get the family togeher for a good ol' fashioned picnic. Mark your calendar now, because National Picnic Day is coming Tuesday, April 23.

But of course, you don't have to wait until then to celebrate the Spring season for some outdoor fun in the sun. Whether you have a blanket picnic or just find the right spot to have a picnic, its well worth the effort. Here are couple of my favorite spots.

Bringle Lake Park

I get where I really enjoy Bringle Lake Park more and more, whether it's taking a walk on the boardwalk, walking the trails, or sightseeing on the bike trails. Show up with your packed picnic lunch and you'll find several covered picnic tables with grills all overlooking the beautiful lake. While you grill up some food you can let the kiddos play in the nearby playground. And for parties or family reunions, they have a huge covered pavilion. Bring your fishing pole so you fish off the pier!

Bringle Lake Park is the perfect spot for family gatherings or to just hang out with friends.

Spring Lake Park

My other favorite spot to have a picnic is Spring Lake Park.  With three covered pavilions for large family gatherings, walking trails, playground equipment, a Splash Pad for families, disc golf course and the beautiful spring fed lake stocked with plenty of fish. Been going here for years, can't tell you how many family picnics and reunions I attended at the park. You can't go wrong choosing either of these locations for National Picnic Day or any special occasion.
