It happens way too often in our area. We have a pet that all of a sudden is very sick or gets injured in the evening or on the weekend and our only hope to get help is at an emergency animal hospital, but the closest place to take them is in Shreveport.

I have always said and still do that we have amazing veterinarians in the Texarkana area, but when there is an emergency, it's a scary thought that there isn't some place closer.

Our pets are family and when time matters, Shreveport is a long drive away. Now there will be a place that even if it's not right here in Texarkana, it will be closer than Shreveport, at least 15 minutes closer in most cases.

I-30 Animal Emergency will open in Mount Pleasant, Texas, soon. It will be open weekdays from 6 PM to 7 AM, Monday through Friday, and open 24 hours on the weekends. Plus, they will be open on all major holidays.

This is big news for all the surrounding areas of Mount Pleasant, including Texarkana. Think about it, it is a straight line on I-30 to Mount Pleasant as opposed to Shreveport, which takes way over an hour.

I-30 Animal Emergency will be locally owned and is planning on opening on Thursday, May 1.

It's a bit of a catch-22 to wish them success because that means there are animals that need emergency care and no one likes that, but if it is successful, then maybe, just maybe, we will get something like it in Texarkana.
