Beware, Don’t Click On This Email Scam in Arkansas
It's a sad truth but criminals are everywhere and they are constantly popping up on our computers. Here is a scam you really need to be aware of because it plays on your fear.
Email Scams Can Play on Your Fear
The fear it plays on is your fear of being summoned to court and if you do not respond you could have a warrant out for your arrest. And looks like it's from a law office too.
I just got the email a couple of days ago and the email looks pretty legit. Well, that is considering I've never received an email like this saying I'm supposed to appear in court. And believe me, I did take notice of this email immediately.
Here Are 5 Signs That This Email Is A Scam
After my panic settled I looked at the email closer. There were five things I noticed,
1. It says you'll need to appear at the county courthouse, it doesn't name the actual county or the address.
2. It says to bring all documents and witnesses to court on your hearing date. Pretty vague there too. No actual date is listed. Why? Because, this way a scam will never be outdated. This one has been floating around for a couple of years now.
3. Then the instructions are to click on a link so you can see the court notice. You click on that and then you have been scammed. Do Not Click on That Link!
4. The Threat: If you do not appear in court the Judge can issue a warrant. Vague again on the judge's name.
5. It's signed by Vincent Gambino Baker, Attorney at Law. A quick Google search on that name and there is no man be that name, only warnings that this is a Scam.
