Feel the Force Arkansas! ‘Return of the Jedi’ with Full Symphony
Have you ever wanted to get your kids to the symphony? To try to get a little culture in their music listening habits instead of that constant thumty-thump droning on and on with the same mind-numbing chorus over and over and over... but enough about me! Maybe this is a way to spark some real music appreciation in your house, maybe even in you. Imagine this, watching Star Wars - Return of the Jedi on a big screen, with the entire movie score played before your very ears by a live symphony orchestra... (insert stupid-grin here) now we're talking.
My dad instilled an appreciation for the classics in me from a very young age, from Bach to Beethoven, Mozart to Gershwin, in fact, Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue is still my all-time favorite. When you move into the more modern composers, there's no question who the top dog is, with movie scores at least, John Williams. The 5-time Oscar winner has composed the scores to over 100 films, most of which you have heard of, like;
- Jurassic Park
- Indiana Jones
- Schindler's List
- Jaws
- Superman
- E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
- Close Encounters of the Third Kind
- Saving Private Ryan... Just to name a few.
All of the Star Wars movies are on that list including, of course, Return of the Jedi. So if you have never been to a movie and suddenly a symphony breaks out, the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra is giving you the chance.
