Salvation Army Opens Warming Station Inclement Weather Shelter For Cold Snap
As we all try to brace ourselves and make preparations of the artic blast of sub-freezing temperatures arriving in the Texarkana area this week, the Salvation Army in Texarkana is preparing too. They are working hard to help the homeless in our area to provide them with shelter and a warm, safe place to get out of the cold. This will be available day and night.
The Salvation Army Family shelter in Texarkana is located at 400 E. 4th Street in Texarkana, Arkansas. This shelter is always open to those men, women and families that are in need of and looking for a safe and warm overnight shelter.
Sann Terry of The Salvation Army in Texarkana stated in a press release;
On freezing cold days like we are forecast later this week we make arrangements for our building to be open and available during the day as a warming station so that people can come in off the streets and get warm. They don’t need to register to stay the night and there is no charge for any services at The Salvation Army. We just want those in need to be safe during this cold snap and for them to know that The Salvation Army is here for them.
The Salvation Army is preparing for this artic cold front to cater to more people that will need shelter. They have 20 emergency beds that will be available during this cold snap. That doesn't include the normal 65 beds available all year round.
Currently, there are 65 men, women, and families are staying at the shelter.
