The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign is back in Texarkana, bringing holiday cheer and crucial support to the community. This holiday tradition serves as the organization's largest fundraiser, keeping alive vital programs year-round, including food assistance, shelter for those experiencing homelessness, youth initiatives, disaster relief, and financial support for families in need.

“The Red Kettle Campaign started humbly in 1891 when a Salvation Army Captain used a crab pot to collect donations in San Francisco. Since then, it’s grown into one of the most recognized charitable initiatives worldwide,” shared Captain Juan Gomez of The Salvation Army in Texarkana. “Every dollar raised here will directly benefit our neighbors, providing essential resources like food, shelter, and life-changing social services when people need them most.”

Red kettles will be stationed outside local stores and businesses across Texarkana from Monday through Saturday until Christmas Eve. Last year, the campaign raised $93,000, and this year, The Salvation Army hopes to reach $100,000 to meet the community's growing needs.

“The Texarkana community’s generosity and support are invaluable,” said Captain Gomez. “Together, we can spark hope and bring comfort to those who need it most.”

The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to ring bells at kettle sites. Those interested can sign up at RegisterToRing.com or call 870-774-2701. Donations can also be made at southernusa.salvationarmy.org/texarkana or by calling 870-774-2701.
