Second Arrest Now Made in 2009 Texarkana Cold-Case Murder

More progress has been made and another arrested and charged with murder from a cold case file from 2009 here in Texarkana, Texas.

The Texarkana Texas Police Department sent out a notice on Monday, March 6, 2023, that another arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of Ricky Lee Dorsey Jr. That murder took place in the 1200 block of Apple Street back in 2009 where Dorsey was found in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Dorsey was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to those wounds.

In a Facebook Page report on Monday, TTPD announced this new arrest in this once cold case file:

An arrest warrant for Joshua Murphy, 34, was issued late last year after detectives working on several "cold cases" developed evidence about his involvement in the murder. Murphy was located and arrested last week by detectives.

You may recall that last month the first arrest was made in this case when police brought in Charles Madlock for his alleged involvement in the 2009 murder.

Like February's arrest of Madlock, Joshua Murphy's bond was also set at $1 million, and he is being charged with murder. Both Madlock and Murphy are now being held in the Bi-State Jail.
