Stephanie Rice Receives Proclamation From Mayor Bob Bruggeman
Did you go see Stephanie Rice last Friday night (6/16) at Scottie's Grill? Rice who was a contestant on NBC's The Voice this season finished in 11th place before being eliminated. Stephanie was back in her hometown of Texarkana to perform a homecoming show and friends, family and fans, turned out in droves to watch her perform and say 'thank you' to the community.
I believe that she was overwhelmed all week from all the love and support shown around town wherever she turned up. In fact, she was totally caught off guard before her show as Texarkana, Texas Mayor Bob Bruggeman was brought in as a surprise guest to officially proclaim it Stephanie Rice Day. Rice was given a proclamation from the mayor highlighting her accomplishments on The Voice and for representing her hometown in a positive light. The tearful Rice accepted the proclamation with grace and gratefulness from what I saw standing on stage, she seemed humbled by the moment. The footage was streamed on Facebook live but just in case you missed it, I have a portion of that footage.
Once the concert kicked in you could tell the Redwater graduate was right at home with the large crowd that swayed to the music and hollered as she performed. Backed by her band Colonial Blue she was in complete control of the stage and her fans were mesmerized. She performed a lot of new material even some songs from the show and when it was over came back out for a two song encore. One of the songs was her rendition of "Every Breath You Take" a song she performed this season on The Voice and got rave reviews from the coaches.
Next up for Stephanie Rice is a new single and a nationwide tour that she will be organizing once she gets back to L.A.
The journey has just begun and don't be surprised if you see her again for a another homecoming show down the road. Special thanks to local musicians Taryn and Jase for an awesome show as well.
