Do you know who invented the Cheeseburger? It was a teenager named Lionel Sternberger. According to spruceeats.com and several other food history websites, back in 1924, he was 16 and working at his father's sandwich shop in Pasadena, California. He was cooking a burger and decided to slap a slice of American cheese on the patty and called it a Cheese Hamburger. Then in the 1930s Kaelin's restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky called it the Cheeseburger and well, the rest is history.
