Texarkana College Gets FAA Approval for Aviation Tech Program – Launching January 2025
Texarkana College (TC) is all set to launch its newly certified Aviation Maintenance Technician program in January 2025. Following approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), this program aims to quickly equip students with the skills needed to meet the aviation industry’s rising demand for skilled maintenance technicians.
According to TC President Dr. Jason Smith, the job market for aviation maintenance technicians is stronger than ever, with an estimated need for over 716,000 new technicians worldwide.
“The aviation maintenance industry is booming, and starting salaries for A&P mechanics are climbing, reaching up to $80,000 in some markets,” Dr. Smith said. “Our program enables students to enter the workforce within one year, fully prepared to earn their FAA certification.”
The TC program stands out for its unique blend of hands-on and remote learning, maximizing students’ technical training time. Held in a hangar at Texarkana Regional Airport, the program simulates a real-world Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul environment. Students will attend on-site sessions Monday through Friday in four-hour blocks, additional coursework will be offered remotely through video lectures, allowing students to progress at their own pace.
Each semester, TC will admit a new group of 20-30 students. Financial aid options, including Pell Grants and student loans, may be available for those who qualify. Interested students can contact Texarkana College’s Office of Enrollment Services at 903-823-3012, or visit the TC Website for more information.
