Texarkana Murals That Pop Make a Magnificent Photo Opp

You see them in towns everywhere across this country, Murals. Nothing brings a city more to life than with painted murals on the side of aging buildings or renovated buildings. We have some very talented cultural artists or what I call "muralists" who are very creative in making a mural into something that reflects who we are as a community and town.

The history of Texarkana can be found in various parts of the city by just looking at a wall. Let's begin in the downtown area where restoration of the city is still underway. From the Grim Hotel to the old State First National Bank Building, things are springing to life including a slew of murals. All of the murals below make for a great photo!

Postcards From Our Past

This mural on the side of the Wellworth building reflects that this is an old railroad town. You will notice the Union Station which was a focal point in our city back in the day.

Next up you notice a tribute mural to the late great jazz musician and native Texarkanian Scott Joplin.

One of the newest murals is the word Texarkana spelled out with helium balloons on the side of the renovated Beaty Bar building. Makes for a great group picture.

Another new mural is located on Front Street and displays a suave of colors, which makes for a great picture.

If you want a variety of murals where you can take a lot of pictures you have to go to Kress on Broad Street where the whole side of the building has various murals.

Cultural Mural paintings are hip and cool in Texarkana.

This mural says it all in the time we are living now.

I always knew Texarkana was visited by aliens.

Standing in front of the butterfly mural makes it look like you have wings.

This is one of my favorites downtown the huge TXK on the side of an abandoned parking garage.

This mural is on the side of TLC Burgers. That's right, Texarkana loves Dr. Pepper including me.

Texarkana is well known to be the home of many celebrities and actors and one of those includes Texarkana native Corinne Mae Griffith a Hollywood silent movie star.

Now let's take a trip to Spring Lake Park where the old Four States Fair commercial building has these painted murals on the side of the building.

Mural 1

This represents Spring Lake Park itself where generations of families have come to fish in the lake, picnic, walk on the trails, or watch the kids play on the playground.

For years Spring Lake Park has been the home of the Boy Scouts Scout-O-Rama event.

At certain times of the year during special events, people are allowed to canoe at Spring Lake Park.

This mural says it all, Welcome to Texas y'all.

I'm sure there are some murals I missed out on but one thing is for certain any of these murals are picture-worthy. Stay tuned, I'm sure more will be coming.
