Texarkana Police Raid Alleged Illegal Gambling Establishment
Texarkana, Texas Police executed a search warrant of an alleged illegal gambling business at 2413 Texas Boulevard Wednesday afternoon and made three arrests.
According to a police report, detectives arrested 44 year old Jeffrey Todd Spraggins, of Wake Village Texas, who is believed to be the owner of the business. Police say the suspected manager, 69 year old Paul Dean Holmes, of Foreman Arkansas, and 42 year old Melissa Ellajewell Nash, of Texarkana Texas, were also arrested during the raid.
It is believed that the business has been in operation for approximately one month. After learning of the alleged gambling business last week, undercover officers went into the business and paid to play games of chance on eight-liner machines. Detectives say they observed Spraggins paying patrons in cash when they won.
Spraggins was charged with Keeping a Gambling Place, Possession of Gambling Device, and Promoting Gambling. Holmes’ charges include Possession of Gambling Device and Promoting Gambling. Nash was charged with Gambling.
The motherboards of the eight-liner machines and an undisclosed amount of cash at the business were seized during the raid.
