Don’t Believe the Hype: Texarkana Cops Warn Community About Deceptive AI Video Scam
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is warning residents about a fake video circulating online that was made using artificial intelligence.
The TAPD posted on their Facebook page, that the video is designed to look like a real emergency in Texarkana. They stated that the video shows people running from the Bi-State Justice Building. Officials say the entire scene is fabricated.
TAPD said the AI-generated footage was created with the intent to look like there was a serious situation to cause fear in our community. Police say no such incident actually happened and there is currently no threat to public safety.
This kind of AI-created content is part of a growing concern for law enforcement as it becomes easier to make fake videos that look very real. These videos can spread quickly online. These videos mislead people and whoever made the A.I. video is hoping to cause panic so people will start sharing the false information and cause more panic.
