Texarkana’s National Night Out October 5 Has Been Cancelled
As the temperatures cool down we get ready every year for the National Night Out event in our neighborhoods. Unfortunately, we won't be visiting and meeting our neighbors.
The Texarkana Texas Police made the difficult decision to cancel this year's event.
It Was a Difficult Decision
Texarkana Texas Police Department posted on their Facebook page:
In light of the increasing number of COVID cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in our area, we've made the difficult decision to cancel this year's National Night Out event on October 5th in Texarkana, Texas. Like many of you, we were looking forward to getting the chance to visit in your neighborhood. However, we ultimately decided that we needed to put the health and safety of the community and our officers first.
Will They Have The Event Next Year?
They did say that that they are looking forward to their National Night Out event again in 2022. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
National Night Out is a campaign that promotes the relationships between police, communities and neighbors relationships to help make our neighborhoods safer.
