Texas Parks and Wildlife to Open New Paddling Trails in East Texas

If you love to paddle in your kayak, then we have some great news for you. There are now some new paddling trails that will open in East Texas.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department just announced the new trails for more outdoor activities at the Toledo Bend Reservoir.

Toledo Bend Reservoir is known for as the Bass Fishing Capital of Texas and soon there will be 30 more miles of paddling trails to enjoy. The new paddling trails are Lost Frontier Reach, Mid Lake Run, Palo Gaucho, and Six Mile. This will bring the total of trails there from 1 to now 5 at Toledo Bend. And will add to the 80 miles of paddling trails across Texas.

Shelly Plante, TPWD nature tourism manager, said in a press release,

We’re really excited to unveil this series of trails at one of Texas’ premier reservoirs, Toledo Bend. Whether you like paddling for exercise, to fish or view the plentiful wildlife, there’s something for everyone.

Here's a Look at the New Paddling Trails and What They Have to Offer

Lost Frontier Reach Trail is a quiet trail that is good for kayak fishing and for beginners, and it's only 5.3 miles.

Mid Lake Run is for more advanced paddlers. It launches from the Sandals and Spurs Resorts. This trail is around 11 miles long. It's great for fishing and bird watching.

Palo Gaucho Bayou is another trail for moderate to advanced paddlers and also is launched at the Sandals and Spurs Resorts. This 9-mile trail is also great for large-mouth bass and watching birds, like egrets, herons and more.

Six Mile Paddling Trail is a quiet 5-mile trail perfect for the whole family. It is a loop trail that launches at the Six Mile North Public Boat Launch. The area includes a playground, picnic area, grills and restrooms, so you can really make a day of it wtih family.
