
Don’t Be Fooled, The Viral “Texas Tattoo Ban” is a Total Hoax
If you were scrolling social media this past weekend, you may have come across a viral post claiming the state of Texas plans to ban tattoos by 2028.
The post included what appeared to be an official document from the “Office of the Texas Governor” and claimed Governor Greg Abbott had signed House Bill 1126 into law.

According to the document, the legislation would make it,
unlawful for any person to obtain, possess or display a tattoo in the state of Texas.
Similar versions of the same fake document have also been shared online using other states, including Georgia.

Don't Fall For it, It’s Completely Fake
There is no Texas law banning tattoos, and the document being shared online is simply another internet hoax making the rounds on social media.
One part of the fake notice reads:
This law marks a new chapter in Texas’s commitment to upholding traditional values and protecting the well-being of its citizens.
While some people realized it was fake, others believed it was true and shared it across social media, helping it spread even further.

Unfortunately, fake posts like this are designed to grab attention, spark outrage, and rack up clicks and shares.
If you come across the tattoo ban post online, it’s a good idea to report it on whatever social media platform it appears on to help slow the spread of false information.
