The Little Rock Zoo has a new addition, welcoming a new baby chimpanzee.

Mom Kianga and Baby Chimp are doing just fine, first-time mother Kianga is showing good maternal instincts in caring for the zoo's newest arrival. The 17-year-old mother has been living at the Little Rock Zoo since 2020 after being transferred on a breeding recommendation from the Albuquerque BioPark Zoo. Because Kianga is a first-time mother there is an increased risk for complications with the birth.

For the mother and chimpanzee to adjust to their new surroundings and for bonding time, the public viewing area of the chimpanzee yard will be blocked off for public access. As soon as zoo officials feel the bonding is complete the area will open back up to the public for viewing. So far the new baby chimp doesn't have a name yet.

How about Ceasar?
