Who Remembers The ‘National Beer Of Texas’ – Check Out This New Ad Campaign
Texas? National Beer? Some of you younger folk may not remember the TV ads for Lone Star Beer back in the 70's and 80's using longneck bottles and giant, unseen Texas armadillos that ripped open beer trucks to get to that delicious golden foamy nectar. They were quite clever, and I bet they sold a lot of beer.
Texas Independence Day is coming up on March 2, to celebrate it the "National Beer of Texas" will be selling new cans and cases commemorating the Gonzales Flag and the words on that flag, "Come And Take It".
If you don't know the story of little cannon in Gonzales and the fight to keep it put up by the Texians that lived there. Those four words and the picture of the cannon were on that flag and it was the spark that set off the Texas Revolution in 1835. You can read the full story here.
Honestly, I had no idea that Lone Star Beer was still around. I'm not much of a beer drinker and I simply hadn't seen it around in a long, long time. Good to know it's still out there and who knows, their sales might just take off once again with marketing like that.
