The East Texas area showed up in a big way for this year’s East Texas Giving Day this past Tuesday, April 18.

6,429 donors made contributions to support nonprofits across the East Texas region. The online fundraiser kicked off early at 6 AM and continued until midnight. In that 18-hour window, a preliminary report shows that $3.65 million was raised to benefit organizations in 32 counties.

Kyle Penney, president of the East Texas Communities Foundation, said in a press release,

East Texas residents responded with incredible generosity.

 

Did you know that in the past 10 years, East Texas Giving Day has been celebrated it has raised a total of $24.5 million for nonprofits across the region.

Hundreds of Nonprofits Participated in East Texas Giving Day

This year, 332 nonprofits participated by encouraging their supporters to donate online throughout the day. Some of the organizations benefited from matching funds, with $1 million in matches available thanks to generous individuals and business partners.

Top Fundraisers Lead the Way on East Texas Giving Day

A few of the big standouts included Texas A&M University–Texarkana, which raised $310,740. Close behind was Northeast Texas Community College Foundation with $291,679, followed by Breckenridge Village at $257,877.

Northeast Texas Community College Foundation brought in the most individual donations. They received a whopping 256 donations, which helped them get to their matching goal.
