EnergyX Unveils First-of-Its-Kind Lithium Plant in Hooks, Texas
Energy Exploration Technologies Inc., known as EnergyX, has unveiled a first-of-its-kind lithium production facility in East Texas, marking a major step toward strengthening the domestic battery supply chain.
New Lithium Plant Opens in Hooks
The company’s new “Project Lonestar” site is located in Hooks, just west of Texarkana, at the TexAmericas Center near Red River Army Depot. The 22,000-square-foot facility represents a $20 million investment and is currently the largest Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) plant in the United States, with an initial production capacity of 250 tons per year.

Turning Old Resources Into New Energy in Bowie County
EnergyX is extracting lithium from brine found in the Smackover Formation, a region historically known for oil and natural gas production. The company controls nearly 50,000 acres of lithium-rich brine resources across Texas and Arkansas.
Research, Jobs, and Future Growth
The Hooks facility will serve as both a production and research site, helping refine lithium extraction technology. Company officials say the project is expected to create more than 40 high-skilled jobs, with room for future expansion.
Long-Term Production Goals
While the demonstration plant is already operational, EnergyX plans to scale production in the coming years significantly. At full buildout, the site could produce up to 50,000 tons of lithium annually.

Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Austin, EnergyX says the project brings the company closer to building a secure, U.S.-based supply of lithium for batteries and energy storage.
