Wincing as you receive your shopping total could be a thing of the past.

Mama loves a good price cut! My husband and I are on a very strict budget. We allow ourselves a certain amount of money to spend on groceries each week. That includes all toiletries and cleaning supplies, which can jack up your final total.

However, relief may be on the way.

According to Time.com, we may see a drop in prices due to one thing... competition. When the big names compete, the customer wins! This is exactly what is happening with Target and Walmart right now. Time Magazine says that Target is cutting prices to compete with Walmart when it comes to groceries. They want a slice of that pie.

Walmart is the largest grocery seller in the country right now, but that doesn't mean that they don't have competition of their own. In fact, Reuters claims that Walmart is competing with Aldi, owned by Trader Joes, in a price war of their very own. Aldi receives top marks when it comes to average price of groceries and Walmart wants a slice of that pie.

So there you have it.

A price war that creates a domino effect for other retailers and ultimately, a cushion in our pocketbooks. Reuters claims most of these changes are going into effect now in stores across the midwest and southeast.

Cha-Ching!
