4,900 Pounds of Marijuana Seized in Safety Inspection in Arkansas
On February 10, officials with the Arkansas Highway Police, a division of the Arkansas Department of Transportation arrested a 27-year-old man traveling from California after a routine safety inspection of a commercial vehicle off I-40. The man was arrested after 4,900 pounds of marijuana was discovered on seven pallets with a street value estimated at 16 million.

The man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and he was taken to the Crawford County Detention Center in Crawford County, according to the ARDOT Facebook page.
" While the Arkansas Highway Police drug seizures have been known to reach between 2,000 and 3,000 pounds, this seizure has resulted in one of the five largest on record, said AHP Chief Jeff Holmes."
Arkansas' newest K-9 officer "Mack" was instrumental in helping AHP officers detain a shipment of illegal drugs from hitting the streets.
This seizure follows 2,872 pounds of marijuana confiscated a week earlier by the Arkansas State Police on February 3.
