Volunteers at the Sevier County Museum are busy constructing an honor garden to honor military members and veterans from the area.

Construction began last month thanks to a generous donation of $4,500.00 from the Home Depot Foundation. The garden is expected to be completed by the start of the annual Hoo-Rah Days Festival held at the museum complex in October.

As someone who grew up in Sevier County, I'm excited about this project at the museum. This honor garden, when completed, will be a treasure for Sevier County and all of Southwest Arkansas. The museum holds a special place in my heart. I spent a summer helping Mrs. King there as a teenager and now my mother is the museum's director. If you're ever traveling through De Queen and love history, especially local history, I encourage you to stop by and visit!
