GenCyber Success: UAHT’s Camp Empowers Next-Gen Cyber Warriors
Sounds like the very first GenCyber Cybersecurity Camp was a huge success this summer. The camp, hosted by the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana, was a two-week camp for high school students across the Texarkana area.
UAHT GenCyber Camp Hands-On Learning: From Code to Ethical Hacking
Our world is becoming increasingly online, and the sad thing is, cybercriminals are also on the rise. This camp was all about learning about the cyber world challenges today and how to protect yourself. Students learned how to build systems, then broke into them. They decoded digital puzzles.
Brittni Hardie, Camp Director, said in a press release,
We’re so proud of the amazing high school students who completed the GenCyber Summer Camp at UAHT this week!

Hands-On Learning: From Code to Ethical Hacking at UAHT Summer Camp
The campers were able to receive hands-on experiences with cryptography, Python programming, robotics, and ethical hacking. They also learned important skills to protect their digital worlds by using GenCyber's core principles, including 'Think Like an Adversary' and 'Defense in Depth'.
The camp also went into cyber ethics and the best practices, giving students a solid foundation in what it really takes to keep systems safe.
GenCyber is a free summer camp for students in grades 7 to 12. The program is funded by the NSA and the National Science Foundation. Great news is this camp was such a great success, there are already plans for it again next summer. You can find out more about this camp at uaht.edu/gencyber
