2024 State Fair of Texas Contest Guides Available Now

Hey Texans! I know, it seems like a long way off before the 2024 State Fair of Texas starts in September, but if you plan on competing for one of those Blue Ribbons, now is the time to commit and start planning your art project or baking item. And to do that, you need to know what the rules and guidelines are, right?

You can now download the contest guides at BigTex.com/CreativeArts. These contests are a long-standing tradition of over 137 years and are a chance for you to shine with your creativity.

The State Fair’s Creative Arts team hosts pre-Fair arts and crafts contests as well as cooking contests during the Fair itself. There are more than 1,100 arts and crafts categories and 25 cooking contests, including opportunities for kids to participate. Whether you love cooking up delicious dishes or crafting beautiful art pieces, these contests are for you!

The Arts & Crafts Contests feature 14 different categories like Fine Art, Ceramics, Needlework, Photography, and even The Great Pumpkin Challenge! You can download the 2024 Arts & Crafts Contest Guide now and register online starting May 8. The deadline to submit your entries online or via mail is July 29. You can also deliver your items in person to the Creative Arts building in Fair Park on August 2, 3, and 4. Entries will be judged, and winners will be notified before displaying their work at the 2024 State Fair of Texas.

If cooking is more your style, there are 25 Creative Arts Cooking Contests to choose from! Categories include Bread, Chocolate, Pizza Cook-Off, Ice Cream Freeze-Off, and many more. The 2024 Cooking Contest Guide and Calendar are available for download, with online registration opening on May 8 and closing on July 29.

Excitingly, the Battle for the Blue Ribbons competition is back! From April 26 to April 28, 2024, home cooks can enter the Cookies, Cakes, and Pies contests for a chance to compete at the exclusive Best of Show-Down during the State Fair on October 6, 2024.
