We are approaching the half-way point of the high school football regular season, so we thought it would be a good time to update the Kicker Cup Standings.

The Kicker Cup City Championship is a traveling trophy that we present each year to the Texarkana high school football team that finishes the regular season with the best overall record.

Arkansas High, Liberty-Eylau, Pleasant Grove, and Texas High are in the running for the right to be declared this year's city champion.

Here are the current standings:

1. Texas High         5-0

2. Pleasant Grove 1-3

3. Arkansas High  1-3

4. Liberty-Eylau     1-4

So, as you can see right now it appears Texas High is in the so-called driver's seat with about half the season to go. But this is high school football and anything can happen. L-E is the defending championship.

At the end of the regular season we will go to the winning school's playoff pep rally and present the trophy to the head coach and the players.

The Kicker Cup is in it's 21st year. The trophy was donated and is inscribed  each year by Rogers Trophy of Texarkana. Our sponsor is Red River Credit Union.

Good luck to all four teams as we head down the stretch in deciding this year's champion.
