Biggest Surge of Monarch Butterflies Headed to Arkansas
The spring season signifies new life and a new beginning. Aside from the tree pollen, there is just something magical about springtime and the Monarch Butterfly.
Headed Back to Arkansas - Monarch Butterfly
Did you know millions of beautiful Monarch butterflies are about to flutter into Arkansas? According to the website, Only in Arkansas, the migration from Mexico has already begun and over the next few weeks into April, you should start to see these colorful butterflies in your yard or garden. These butterflies will continue to trek north laying eggs for the second generation of monarch butterflies. The cycle continues until they migrate back to Mexico in September.
Sign of a Butterfly
Many people believe that seeing a butterfly is a sign that a loved one is in a better place living in a divine spiritual world with other souls that have passed on.
Connect With Nature
There are plenty of ways to see monarch butterflies on a hiking trip in one of Arkansas' many state parks, the national forest, or from your backyard garden. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission offers the website iNaturalist a mapping project that allows visitors to learn more about the monarch butterfly and connect with nature. It also gives the AGFC the resources needed to continue research on the positive effects of this endangered species.
Arkansas' Only Butterfly House
If you want to observe the monarch butterflies up close, you may want to take a road trip to the only butterfly house in Arkansas, the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks in Northwest Arkansas.
So, get outdoors in the coming weeks and enjoy nature's show of the monarch butterflies because they don't have a long lifespan.
