New Fiber Optic Networks Coming to Cass County
There was a big announcement for our friends in Cass County recently. Officials from Spectrum and Cass County Judge Travis Ranson recently announced the building of new fiber-optic networks that will provide high-speed internet to over 5,000 homes and small businesses in Cass County.
Judge Ransom said in a press release,
Today we’re celebrating a big step forward in bringing high-speed internet to unserved homes and businesses in Cass County. Partnering with Spectrum and the community is a win for our rural areas.
Spectrum plans to connect 133,000 homes and businesses in Texas through the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF). Spectrum services will start in Cass County this fall, and the project will finish by spring 2025.
Michael Valentin, Vice President of Field Operations for Spectrum said,
Our efforts to build out our services in East Texas are huge. Our teams work through all kinds of terrain to connect rural homes and businesses. It’s hard work, but we know it’s important to provide access to these areas.
Valentin stated that the work also depends on a special partnership with local and state governments to help speed up permits and utility companies attaching cables to poles. \
Judge Ransom said that having Broadband internet service is essential. Giving rural areas including Cass County this service is vital for our economy and communities and helps rural America thrive.
