2 Pickleball Tournaments Coming Up In Texarkana – What’s The Dill?
Did You Know that Arkansas and Texas are two of the top States in the nation where Pickleball is soaring in popularity? It's true. Did you also know there are two pickleball tournaments coming up this month that you just might be interested in?
What is this crazy-sounding game and where do you play it?
First, if you don't know, pickleball is a combination of three games, including tennis, badminton, and ping pong. No, I have not played it yet, but it looks fantastic, and the people playing it seem to love it.
The game is played on a tennis court but the dimensions and fault lines have been greatly reduced. It's played with paddles instead of rackets and the balls resemble colorful wiffle balls, but smaller, I think.
If you want to learn the basics of Pickleball, I found these two videos from PlayPickelball.com to help you get started:
Where Is Pickle Ball Gaining?
A recent review of where pickleball is growing the most found that Arkansas is #6 on the list of the increase of popularity with a 181% increase. Texas came in at #11 with a 175% increase, and if you're interested, the top state is Florida, at a 236% increase.
According to the survey from World Sports Network, Florida also has the most courts to play on at 633 in the state. Arkansas only has 80, and Texas comes in with 540 pickleball courts.
