The Texarkana Museums System has some wonderful programs this year as we celebrate Texarkana's Sesquicentennial. A program coming up this month is no exception. It's all about hairstyles back in the early days of Texarkana.

Arkansas Living History Association

Mrs. Bobbye Henry of the Arkansas Living History Association will lead this unique presentation. Mrs. Henry is a Master Level Living History Performer and will not only talk about the popular styles of yesteryear but will also recreate some of them as well.

The program will take place at the historic Ace of Clubs House on Saturday, March 18 from 1 PM to 4 PM. . Light refreshments will be served.

This program will be a great learning experience for you if you are planning on entering the Parade of Hair taking place the following weekend on Saturday, March 25 at the P. J. Ahern Home. The Parade of Hair is an event where you can recreate your own historically-inspired hairstyle and then model it for the audience. The winner will receive the title "Best Historic Hair 2023!" Register to be a contestant here: The Parade of Hair can feature both men's and women's hairstyles and the contest is open to everyone.
