Arkansas & Texas Law Enforcement Will be Out in Full Force Nov 20-26

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and the Thanksgiving holiday is the busiest travel time of the year. Both  Arkansas and Texas law enforcement are teaming up with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Local and state law enforcement will be watching vehicles closely to make sure you have your seatbelts on. This will be a 'high-visibility Click It or Ticket seat belt awareness campaign'.

The Thanksgiving holiday week is a big week for travelers and we have lost way too many people from automobile accidents in the past during this busy week. Law enforcement is hoping to reduce the number of fatalities this year by looking for motorists who are not buckled up from Monday, November 20 to Sunday, November 26.

Law enforcement officers will be taking a no-excuses approach to seat belt law enforcement, writing citations both day and night to save lives.

Back in 2021 during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, there were a total of 361 passenger vehicle occupants killed in traffic crashes across the nation. Half of those fatalities were not wearing a seat belt.

Arkansas Public Safety Secretary Colonel Mike Hagar stated in a press release,

Buckle your seat belt to stay safe and obey the law. Whether you’re driving cross-country or across town, whether it is day or night, it is essential that you wear a seat belt. It’s your best defense if involved in a crash and may mean the difference between life and death. This Thanksgiving, and every day of the year, remember: Click It. Don’t Risk It.

Please don’t risk a costly ticket this Thanksgiving or even worse you or your loved ones' lives by not wearing a seat belt. Remember to Click It or Ticket. It's that simple.
