The gates open at 4 PM with food trucks and live music all in preparation for the big evening event. At 6:30 PM you will design your lantern.
When the sun goes down at 7 PM people will light their lanterns and launch them into the water. You can watch as thousands of lit lanterns travel across the water. This is one of the prettiest sights to see.
There are several cultures that have used water lanterns for thousands of years originating from India and spreading throughout Asia. The water lanterns were used for several things from keeping disasters away to welcoming happiness, praying for a good marriage and also for guiding souls to the spirit world. These events are also used to reflect on loved ones that have passed.
