Two Texarkana Families Share the Spirit of Halloween on Pine Street
It was a dark and gloomy night as I was driving down the 3200 block of Pine Street in Texarkana, when the glow of ghostly lights caught my attention.
What Was That Ghostly Glow Under the Harvest Moon in Texarkana?
I pulled my truck to the side of the street and got out. The harvest moon hung high in the sky above me, casting an eerie shadow across the street. The sound of a werewolf howling could be heard not far from where I was standing.
I proceeded with caution when, in the twinkling of my eyes, there it was, the two houses everyone has been talking about.
Each house was glowing with the spirit of Halloween, from a hearse with a skeleton driver with red eyes to a tree-high scarecrow, flying witches ready to cast a spell, a smoke-spewing dragon, and the enormous werewolf howling at the super moon surrounded by ghostly clouds.
Was this for real, or was I having a bad nightmare?

As I began taking pictures of what I was seeing, I was greeted by the proprietor, Mr. Quinn, who began to tell me that he and his wife, along with his next-door neighbors, the Stokes, have been decorating their houses for several years.

They love Halloween so much that they joined together to create a fun, spooky-themed atmosphere for all of Texarkana to enjoy.
The creativity of their decorations is mind-blowing. I especially loved the graveyard with the man-made headstones that represent every business that has perished in Texarkana. The motion-activated skeleton fireman holding a hose, don't get close or you might get sprayed with water.
The Quinns and the Stokes are excited for Halloween, as the 3200 block of Pine Street will be roped off on October 31 for a barrage of people and trick-or-treaters who visit there to collect loads of candy they hand out. No worries, police security will be there
"It's absolutely wild and crazy on Halloween night, said Pat Quinn."
The best time to visit is during the early part of the week. Expect more traffic on Friday and Saturday night.
Happy Halloween!
So, if you're into the Halloween season, you're cordially invited to drive by or park and get out to see these incredible displays closer. The spirit of Halloween is alive and well at the Quinns and the Stokes. The pictures at the bottom of this story do no justice; you have to see it to believe it.
